My enthusiasm for beauty has waned to such an extent that my last beauty related lust list was, believe it or not, just before last year’s IMATS. Still, I never pass up the opportunity to go. IMATS London 2015 is just around the corner; next weekend, in fact. This will be my sixth consecutive IMATS, and honestly, I can’t believe it’s come around so quickly. Where on earth has 2015 been going, please?!
In order to preserve my money and sanity, my plan of attack is to get there reasonably early (as always!) and conduct something of a smash-and-grab of the things I really want without hanging around too much. To this end, I’ve been browsing the exhibitor list and drawing up a little collection of pretty things.
Sadly, there seems to be some IMATS regulars missing from the roster this year, most notably Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. How on earth are we supposed to get by without our annual Lip Tar quota?! On the other hand, there are some other brands I am very excited to see there. One of those is Urban Decay – sure, it’s an easily accessible brand and one that I don’t exactly have a shortage of in my makeup collection, but it’s one of my favourites and I’m willing to bet they are going to have a damn beautiful display at the show. One product I’ve been meaning to try for a while is the 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Liner. Haven’t quite decided on a colour yet, but I’m feeling maybe the hot pink Woodstock…
Another new face at IMATS is MoYou London, a brand of nail art stamping plates that I’ve bought from before. They have such a huge collection of plates and I can’t wait to actually peruse them in person and hopefully reignite a love for stamping that has been long lost.
Sugarpill are gracing London with their presence again this year – rejoice! – and this time round, they’ve got nail polish. Oh yes. The Heavenly Creatures nail collection looks promisingly obnoxious and sparkly, and narrowing down my choices might have to wait until I can see them in the flesh but at the moment it’s looking likely to be Cloud Castle and Celestia that will be coming home with me.
Despite Make Up For Ever having properly launched in the UK at Debenhams earlier this year, I’m yet to actually go to a counter and stock up on my holy grail Face & Body Foundation. I seriously love this stuff – check out ye olde review – so this one doesn’t require any thought or deliberation. It is a necessity.
Now, brushes are something I pick up at IMATS every year without fail. For the first few years I was a slave to Crown Brush, and later deviated to Royal & Langnickel, but this year I’m quite interested in checking out Nanshy. This completely vegan, cruelty free brand has been touted by many a blogger over the years so I’m looking forward to seeing what they have to offer. I probably own more than enough brushes for a small city, but a lot of them never get used so I’m thinking about refreshing my entire collection – we’ll see!
Lastly, YSL are making an appearance. It’s interesting how these higher end brands like NARS, Bobbi Brown and now YSL have been slowly creeping their way into the regular IMATS lineup. YSL quite often put out products that pique my interest, but I have never visited a counter where I wasn’t looked down on by awful sales staff which puts me right off. I’m hoping I won’t encounter the same attitude at IMATS, as I’ve been wanting to look at the dual-purpose Kiss & Blush for ages now.
Are you heading to IMATS London 2015? If you’d like to, you can still get tickets online here for £50, or if you’re a real last-minute type of person they’re £60 at the door of Kensington Olympia. See you there?
