Makeup Addict Tag

Yknow, I just had my first completely free weekend in ages. I had grand plans for a solid two days of blogging, but yeah… that didn’t happen. I was lazy. My kindred ginger spirit, Kat from Tales of a Pale Face, has created her own Makeup Addict Tag and nominated me to do it – thanks Kat! I haven’t done a tag in literally years, so to ease my lack-of-blogging guilt and get me back into the swing of writing vapid things about makeup, here we go…

1. Which product do you still keep buying more of despite having plenty in your collection?
Eyeshadow bases. I’m not talking primers, like Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but bases – cream eyeshadows, eyeshadow pencils, that kind of thing. My favourites include Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams and Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon Eyeshadow Pencils.

2. What’s the one product you couldn’t live without?
I’m going to go controversial here (for me, at least) – I feel like I should say black eyeliner but honestly, I don’t know how I coped before Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors came into my life.

3. Favourite makeup brand?
Illamasqua, forever and always. I do feel (and have said this before) that, in their efforts to become more commercial and more premium, they are losing their way a little bit and leaning slightly too far from their roots and what made them a cult favourite in the first place, but I do love them and they will always have a special place in my heart.

4. How big is your makeup collection?
This time last year, it was disgustingly big. Like, shockingly. I got rid of a LOT before I moved at the beginning of this year, by giving things away to friends and family and donating to womens’ shelters. After that, the size of my collection was still huge by any normal person’s standards, but I was quite happy with it. It seems to be creeping up again now though, perhaps it’s time for a clear out.

5. And how do you like to store it?
I have two IKEA Alex drawers – one for makeup and skincare, one for polish and electricals. The layout is a little different now, but here’s how I stored my stuff when I first got the Alex drawers. Before that, I had two IKEA Helmers. When I got the Alexes, I gave the Helmers to Grace from All That Slap – that was a weird ass night, she had to climb in through my kitchen window (long story) and then as we wheeled the Helmers out to her car one of them fell apart, clattering all over the floor and causing a few of my neighbours to poke their heads out. It was about 12.30am at the time.. oops.

6. How many items of makeup have you got in your handbag at the moment?
I’m pretty good at not carrying around too much stuff. On any given day, I always have blotting papers, an eyelash curler, a black eyeliner pencil and the lipstick I’m wearing that day.

7. If you could raid another blogger’s stash, who would it be?
Ooh, good question, I’ve never really thought about it. Maybe Kate from gh0stparties? Or Rowena from Cosmetic Candy just to nose around all her Asian beauty products.

8. How long does your usual makeup routine take and how many products do you use?
If I’ve woken up super late (which, let’s face it, happens pretty frequently) I’ve managed to cut my bare-basics routine down to seven minutes, using seven products. Generally, I take about fifteen minutes and use similar products to my emergency routine and just spend a bit more time on it, and add in some eyeshadow too.

9. Have you ever bought makeup knowing you wouldn’t use it?
You know, I’ve been wracking my brain and I honestly don’t think I have. Sure, there are products I’ve bought and never used or only used once, but it’s always purchased with the best intentions.

10. Tag a few other makeup addicts to do the tag!
Errmm.. let’s go for Marvelle from Blog of Shadows, Annie from Epiphannie A aaand Selina from Miss Beauty Adikt.
