Thinning Hair Awareness Week with Nioxin

Being British, I am a moaner by nature. No other nationality is quite as talented as we are at finding about fifty million things to moan about on a daily basis, and a frequent moaning topic of mine is my skin and hair. I do thank my lucky stars, though, that one complaint I don’t have about my hair is thinning. I have ridiculously thick hair, even though I lose a LOT of it during brushing and washing it never seems to get any thinner. Whilst having thick ol’ bushy hair can be a pain, I’m quite aware that it’s nothing like the concern of your hair noticeably thinning.

Luckily, for those who are concerned about thinning hair, Nioxin are on hand to offer helpful advice and targeted products. Nioxin are a brand I hadn’t heard of until I was invited to pop in and visit them on Tuesday night, at the gorgeous Michael John Salon in Mayfair (pictured below). Their products are designed to help deliver thicker, fuller and denser-looking hair; whilst they can’t physically promote new hair growth, Nioxin products promise to improve the condition of the hair that you have and make it the best it can be.

Nioxin have 25 years of reasearch under their belts and their commitment to innovation and to helping those who experience thinning hair has led them to sponsor the inaugural Thinning Hair Awareness Week next month. It’s been created not only to raise awareness of hair thinning but to educate about the different consequences and measures that can be taken to combat it. Noticeably thinning hair can be a huge cause of embarrassment for both men and women, although I’d hasten to say it’s particularly true for women. It’s the sort of thing we wouldn’t talk about, but Thinning Hair Awareness Week will hopefully reduce some of the undeserved stigma surrounding the issue so that men and women can seek advice without embarrassment. I think it’s a really fantastic idea, as to be honest I have no idea what I would do if my hair started falling out. It’s like a Samsonite thing, my hair is a security blanket. I imagine it’s a similar story for many of us, so it’s wonderful to know that both Nioxin and the Institute of Trichology are so committed to the issue.

Nioxin were kind enough to gift me one of their Hair System Kits*, and even though my hair isn’t thinning, it is coarse and oily so I look forward to testing out the immense cleansing and smoothing properties of the products. Nioxin’s 3 step Hair System Kits are tailored to specific hair types, with the shampoo working to remove all traces of sebum and residue from the scalp without stripping it of vital moisture. The conditioner moisturises, balances and rehydrates the hair while the scalp treatment contains antioxidants and botanicals to help thicken and fortify each hair strand from the root. The kits retail at a very reasonable £27.99 so it’s a great way to try out the brand and see how well it works for you. The best part is, if you’re not satisfied with visible results in just 30 days they offer a 100% money back guarantee!

I look forward to letting you know further down the line how I get on with Nioxin, and whether it improves the overall condition of my hair even though I don’t need any thickening! Nioxin products are available online, and if you’d like to find out where your nearest Nioxin salon is just let me know and I’ll give you the list. :-)

  1. Thanks for sharing this. I have super thick dry hair so I don’t think it will be applicable for me. I have sent your link to my friend who unfortunately is losing her hair :(
